We hiked up Cookstove Trail and back down Harding Springs Trail. The trailhead for Cookstove is located in the Junipine Campground. The trail starts out with many switchbacks and it is a pretty steep climb, But since it is only 0.7 miles or so to the top, it wasn't that exhausting. We really enjoyed the workout and found the hike to be absolutely delightful. The trail is beautiful, green and shady. Great morning hike!! Once we reached the top, we looped over to the Harding Springs Trail to descend. It was about a 20 minute walk from Cookstove to Harding Springs. I am glad we looped around because both trails were beautiful but very different. It added a little variety to the hike.

The trail continues on the other side of Chavez Ranch Rd, connecting with the Ram's Head Trail and also continuing towards Cathedral Rock (did not hike all the way there). You get great shade from Airport Mesa if you leave early enough in the morning (try 5:30am in May).

This hike was exactly what we needed we are beginners that wanted to see some views and have some small elevation changes we veered off and went to the creek as the climb up the rock face seemed too hard for a couple of newbies. We really enjoyed the views and would try it again next time out
Thanks for making the suggestion

The trail was a good start for two novice hikers in Average shape had some small climbs with some outstanding views. We did not bring enough water so we decided to cut the hike short only went out for 30 minutes and turned back. It was harder than expected as it was very narrow I would reccomend it for other new hikers

Great hike with spectacular views. We hiked to the TH via the chuckwagon trail, which was a pleasant hike and avoided the dust and noise on FR 152. See the folks at the Hike House to get details on this.

Short, shady creekside trail - very scenic with unusual rock wall formations. Used it as access for Casner Canyon trail. Creek crossing was wading but if prepared with towel and fresh shoes on the other side then it worked quite well.

Nice wilderness trail - kind of hard to follow so best if you are with someone who has done it before. A remote, not often used trail - which I enjoy. Connects up with the east side of Courthouse hike. Mostly full sun so be prepared.

Great, close-in trail. Nice uphill and Chicken Point is one of my favorite places for views and being high up and in the middle of the red rocks. Go early in the day before the jeeps disrupt the serenity. If not in my top '10' hikes of Sedona, it is very close. Only misses the top of the list due to the high volume of hikers and jeeps.

Mountain bike rating - Rupp is used as a connector up to Cockscomb which you can then take over to Aiare trail then to Mescal - then to Chuck Wagon and Lizard Head - you can park at the Dry Creek turn off - head our Girdner from Dry Creek to connect up with Rupp - you can do any number of loop connect ups - talk with Mike at the Hike House - they can help you out with maps and general info.
