DIABETIC BOOT CAMP
Diabetes is a challenging disease. Left unchecked it will most certainly leave you with slow, debilitating complications such as cardiovascular disease, retinopathy, neuropathy, kidney failure, obesity and amputations.
However, it does not have to be this way. 90% of diabetics (Type II) can reverse this damaging disease. Those who can’t reverse it (Type I) may still develop a “life plan” that minimizes and prevents much of the devastation that comes with diabetes.
New research shows that anytime we allow our blood sugar to rise above 140 mg/dl we are causing irreparable damage to our body. If you are experiencing blood sugar levels >140mg/dl or have an A1c over 6% then this BOOT CAMP will open your eyes to a better life.
I am a diabetic who was diagnosed with a 9.4% A1c three year ago. For the past 3 years I have maintained a 5.0-5.2% A1c. Standard definition for a diabetic is a person with an A1c >7%. I am driven and committed to helping anyone/everyone to maintain a 5% A1c because if you sit back and think 7% A1c is good then you will suffer the unenviable consequences associated with diabetes (see chart below).
*Following the guidelines set fourth by The American Diabetes Association will lead you down the path of long term complications—I firmly believe this and it is widely supported.
In this DIABETIC BOOT CAMP you will learn the following:
- How to “normalize” blood sugars and achieve a 5% A1c
- How having diabetes makes you predisposed to gain weight and how you CAN reverse this
- How “post-meal” blood sugar spikes are responsible for causing the majority of damage to the body and how to avoid it
- Tips for keeping blood sugar between 80-120 mg/dl…all the time!

Information about DIABETIC BOOT CAMP
This camp is a 5-hour course that provides 2.5 hours of instruction and 2.5 hours of hiking. The goal of this camp is to open your eyes to the trajectory of your life with diabetes and to teach you effective tools and skills that can leave to a long, fruitful life.
The consequences of this disease depend solely on your ability to manage it properly. Doctors CAN’T do this for you…nobody is riding to your rescue. They can only give you a few tools (meds). Your success depends on you.
We will be offering DIABETIC BOOT CAMP in an individual setting and a group setting on specific dates. We will ask each person to complete a medical profile so that we can see exactly where you are in your “diabetic journey.”
If you are interested in this camp, then please email greg@thehikehouse.com . Upon receiving your email, we will schedule a call to discuss the program and scheduling:
- Individual Class: Please email to schedule
- Group Class (Up to 6 people) Please email to schedule
Note: Non-diabetics may attend this class. The very skills we teach in this class may be the difference between you having diabetes and not having diabetes one day.
